Bellevue Standpipe (first) is built.

[1887-MWM] Designed in the Shingle style, the wooden tower is located on land donated by developer William Blakemore off Bellevue Hill Road. The property is acquired by the Metropolitan Park Commission in 1894. It is replaced by a new tower (second) in 1915,* and another new tower (third) in 1956.* Bellevue Hill (325 feet)(339) is the tallest point in Boston, followed by Green Hill (305), Metropolitan Hill (246), and Peters Hill (235), and Mission Hill (220).
